Police have launched a death investigation after the body of a woman was found early Tuesday morning in downtown Miami.

Miami Police have not released many details, but say the body of a Black woman in her 40s was found in the water near the north side of the AmericanAirlines Arena.

“It’s very surprising, I’ve never seen anything quite like that," said a neighbor who was walking her dog when she saw officers recovering the body near a seawall.

The body was eventually taken to the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner's office while officers closed off a portion of Maurice Ferre Park.

Investigators have not released additional details on the case, including whether foul play was involved.
