Plane Passengers Stranded 6 Hours on Colo. Tarmac

Passengers on a Republic Airlines flight contended with a travel nightmare on Friday, as they waited for six hours on the tarmac in Colorado Springs — only to find out the flight was ultimately cancelled, NBC News reported. Republic Airlines Flight 4934 left Kansas City at 6:21 a.m. bound for Denver, but bad weather forced the flight (and several others) to land in Colorado Springs. Airport officials told passengers they could leave, but that they would forfeit their seats and any connecting flights, so many stayed on board. They waited on the tarmac for six hours, and finally deboarded at 1:30 p.m., NBC station KOAA reported. "I feel like we've been hijacked, held hostage today, and there's just been no sincere effort to help us," passenger Kathie Ridings told KOAA.
