Model Ran Over, Killed UM Student: Police

Valentina Andrews Hubsch hit and killed Jared Paul Jones, police allege

Police think they have found the driver responsible for a deadly hit and run that claimed the life of a University of Miami student earlier this week.

Valentina Andrews Hubsch, a local model and actress, has been identified as the driver of the vehicle that hit Jared Paul Jones as he crossed the street near UM's campus on Nov. 13.

The woman has not been arrested yet and no charges have been filed, but Coral Gables Police said they have the vehicle and DNA samples. Detectives said Hubsch gave a statement to police Wednesday morning, but it's unclear if she is in town.

"My client has been cooperating with the authorities regarding this horrible and unavoidable tragedy, which has impacted the lives of both families," said Albert Levine, Hubsch's attorney. "We ask the public to withold judgement towards my client until all the facts come until this investigation has been completed."

Jones, 21-year-old student from Maryland, died early Tuesday morning after being in a coma for 10 days.

Jones was hit by a vehicle headed northbound on Red Road as he was walking in the street near the intersection of Red Road and Blue Road around 7:20 p.m.

According to her profile, Hubsch is contracted with Locke Management and had a small part in a movie titled, "The Square Root of 2" in 2008.
