Boyfriend Arrested for Murder of Coral Springs Woman: Police

Police have arrested the boyfriend of a Coral Springs woman. He walked out of the police department in handcuffs and charged with second degree murder.

Police believe Enrique Macotela killed his live-in girlfriend, 38-year-old Magdalena Weich, who was also the mother of his child.

Macotela was at his home on Tuesday when police arrested him without incident. They also revealed their biggest evidence against him: Surveillance video of him near where Weich's body was found.

"This is an in-depth investigation, so our detectives obviously had to gather all the pieces of evidence to be able to develop probable cause," said Sgt. Carla Kmioteck with Coral Springs Police.

A group of teenagers found Weich's body in a wooded area near Coral Springs High School in August. Macotela reported her missing.

According to a police report, Macotela called Weich's boss to say she was sick and couldn't come to work. Police slowly and methodically built a case against Macotela, with the most damaging evidence on tape. Coral Springs Police said he was allegedly driving in the area where Weich's body was found.

"The vehicle is pulled off within 15 meters of where the victim's body was discovered and it's on the shoulder with its headlights on and the flashers going, which puts our suspect directly in the area," Sgt. Kmioteck said.

The couple's four-year-old is now in DCF custody.

There's no word on whether Macotela has hired an attorney.
