Broward Teacher Charged With Allegedly Providing Teen Girls With Alcohol After Being Found in Park

A Broward County teacher found himself behind bars after police say they found two teenage girls intoxicated inside his car last week.

David Stokes, a 45-year-old history teacher at Ramblewood Middle School in Coral Springs, was arrested and charged with two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He was also charged with trespassing after police found his car inside the Pompano Beach park after it had closed.

A police report says that a Broward Sheriff’s Office deputy approached the car shortly before 3 a.m. on September 15th. The deputy found Stokes inside with both victims, each 16 years old. Both teens appeared to be intoxicated with slurred speech, according to the report.

Both victims told officers that Stokes had picked them up from their home without telling their parents and bought them alcohol. One victim also said that Stokes bought her two dozen cough pills in an effort to create an “intoxicating affect.”

The South Florida Sun Sentinel reports that Stokes has been removed from his teaching position pending an investigation and the outcome of the case. Each delinquency charge carries a maximum sentence of 364 days in jail.
