Police released the names of two people involved in a Miami Gardens attempted robbery during which a would-be robber was fatally shot by an office employee.
The incident occurred on Aug. 31 in the Bluth Plaza located at 20401 NW 2nd Ave. Police said 26-year-old Edwin Stephens was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds after he was shot by 25-year-old Lavon Moss Jr.
Stephens, who entered a suite at 7:40 p.m., pointed a gun at a female employee and ordered two other people to the ground, Miami Gardens Police said. Moss Jr., who saw the incident and believed the man was a robber, confronted the intruder and fired multiple shots. Stephens was able to fire one shot back but jammed his gun.
Moss Jr. does not face any charges as of Wednesday, police said.
