A judge has scheduled an October sentencing for a deep-sea treasure hunter who pleaded guilty to contempt of court after spending years as a fugitive following his refusal to testify about gold he discovered in a historic shipwreck.
Tommy Thompson went missing three years ago amid demands that he appear in court. He and his longtime female companion, Alison Antekeier (an-tuh-KEER'), were apprehended in January at a hotel where he was living near Boca Raton, Florida.
Federal Judge Algenon Marbley on Tuesday set Oct. 2 sentencing dates for the 63-year-old Thompson and for the 47-year-old Antekeier, who also has pleaded guilty to contempt of court.
Thompson's plea deal set a maximum prison sentence of two years and a maximum fine of $250,000. Antekeier faces a possible year in prison.
