Too Reality TV: Man Hit By Car While Watching Crew Film Cops

Man was trying to get a closer look at "Policewomen of Broward County"

A curious man got a little too close to the action during a filming of a reality TV show and nearly paid the price with his life.

The man was hit by a car and sent flying in the air after it appears he tried to get too close to the taping of a reality TV show.

Some reports said the man was crossing the street to see the filming of TLC's "Policewomen of Broward County" on Sunday night.

The unnamed man's condition is not known, but video footage of the accident would indicate he is in pretty bad shape.

BSO said they could not confirm that the filming was for a reality TV show, but did confirm their deputies were apprehending a suspect in a nearby parking lot when the traffic accident occured.

"The pedestrian was jay-walking into traffic when he was struck by a vehicle," BSO spokesman Mike Jachles said. "It seems unlikely that the activity in the parking lot caused the accident."

Camera crews were filming Broward's estrogen-enriched version of "Cops" on the 4600 block of West Hallandale Beach Boulevard when a man is seen slowly walking across the busy street toward the area. He stops in the middle of the road and continues to look.

When he continued across the street, he walked directly into the path of an oncoming car, who sent the man hurling into the air.

His body slammed on the pavement in front of the stunned camera crew, which went from focusing on the deputy to the accident unfolding before their eyes.

It's unclear if the footage will make the police reality TV show, which focuses on the lives of women in law enforcement.

The driver of the vehicle stopped and was interviewed by the police on scene, but did not receive a ticket.

The injured man's condition was unknown Monday.
