Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Jamie Guirola is excited to be reporting in his hometown. At 17 years old he was the very first NBC 6 Junior Broadcaster to give a live on-air report. He is proud to have come full circle and now be a general assignment reporter at NBC 6. He joined the station in January 2014 and has more than 15 years of experience in television reporting and anchoring.
Prior to his arrival at NBC 6, Jamie worked at CBS Miami and in several other stations across the country, including WTVH in Syracuse, New York; WHNS in Greenville, South Carolina; KLAS in Las Vegas and WKMG in Orlando, Florida.
Jamie’s interest in television started at Miami Sunset Senior High School where he was actively involved with the TV production program. He is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Broadcast Journalism.
As a Miami native, Jamie considers it a privilege to be back home and able to tell stories that matter in his community. In addition to being a mentor for Big Brothers Big Sisters, Jamie is also active in the LGBTQ community. He regularly emcees the annual Equality Florida Gala and is a member of the Miami Beach LGBTQ Advisory Committee.
For a brief time, Jamie also served on the Florida Department of Health’s Transgender Wokgroup.
During his free time Jamie loves CrossFit and working out. He also enjoys trying to cook, hanging out with his friends and family and spending quality time with his dog “Digits.”
