Miriam Tapia is a community reporter who joined NBC6 in June 2023. She reports content to South Florida Live and contributes in Spanish to sister station Telemundo 51 and Acceso Total.
Before joining NBC6 she spent six years as a correspondent at WSFL-TV in Miami producing reports for all digital media platforms.
In her role as community reporter, Tapia covers events happening throughout South Florida. Some of the larger initiatives she covers are the stations’ Clear the Shelters campaign, our Caravan of Joy Toy Drive, local Pride events like Miami Beach Pride and Stonewall Pride, and the Coconut Grove Arts Festival.
Tapia was born in Nicaragua and grew up in Miami. She is a graduate of Coral Gables Senior High School and received her Bachelor of Science in broadcast media from Florida International University (FIU).
Tapia likes to watch movies, keep up with the best TV shows and hang out with her closest friends. She is also determined to learn how to ride a bike and swim. At home, she loves hanging out with her French bulldog, Arya.
