“Dancing With the Stars” Elimination: Who Didn't Make Elite Eight?

Bristol Palin, Kirstie Alley and Apolo Anton Ono had lowest scores going into Tuesday night's episode.

"Dancing With the Stars": All-Stars is down to eight.

So, what were the voters thinking this week? It can be difficult to tell the true lay of the land, with the show not always choosing to call out the actual bottom three, but rather the couple going home along with two red herrings.

Tonight, however, the so-called bottom three was culled from the pairs with the lowest scores: Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas, and Apolo Anton Ohno and Karina Smirnoff.

And guess what?

America apparently doesn't like a quitter.

Just as Mark suspected, he and Bristol were in trouble--and got sent home--after she resisted his attempt to teach her tougher choreography for last night's rock 'n' roll routine. Kirstie and Maks had a lesser score...but the voters let them eat cake!

"We did it, we made it to week four and I'm happy with that," Bristol said. "I had an awesome time and an awesome partner. These are just great people and I wish them the best of luck."

Still needing that luck are Kirstie, Apolo, Emmitt Smith, Gilles Marini, Melissa Rycroft, Kelly Monaco, Shawn Johnson and Sabrina Bryan.

Next week, the remaining couples will do individual dances to a "guilty pleasure" song of the all-star's choosing and compete in team freestyle routines.

Are you surprised that Bristol's fans couldn't keep her around for another week?
