Car Catches Fire on I-95

The fire may have been electrical.

A vehicle caught on fire Thursday morning in the southbound lanes of Interstate-95 near Opa Locka Boulevard.

The 23-year-old driver noticed smoke coming from the back of his Grand Marquis when he was driving. He popped the trunk and saw fire, according to FHP spokesman Tom Pikul.

The vehicle became engulfed in flames as traffic continued in the other lanes.

Fire Rescue responded to put out the fire and then towed the vehicle.

There were no injuries.

Police say the fire could have been electrical because the driver had a sound system.
