11-Year-Old Girl To Get New Power Wheelchair From South Florida Foundation

An 11-year-old Hialeah girl will get a new $17,000 Disney princess-themed wheelchair from a Davie-based foundation.

The Darrell Gwynn Foundation is donating the chair to Magela Morejon of Hialeah on Friday at Casa Larios, located at 5859 SW 73 Street in South Miami, according to an email statement from the foundation.

Morejon, who is diagnosed with cerebral palsy, currently uses a manual wheelchair but is not strong enough to push herself. She will not be eligible for a power wheelchair from Medicaid until 2016.

The wheelchair will be given during the first "Latin Nights" mixer that the restaurant is putting on to celebrate the foundation, the foundation said.
