2 killed after car crashes into FPL pole, catches fire in North Miami Beach

Traffic between NE 163rd St. and 172nd St. has been reopened.

Two people were killed when the car they were in crashed into an FPL pole and caught fire in North Miami Beach Saturday afternoon.

North Miami Beach police said thecar struck an FPL pole at Northeast 172nd Street and U.S. 1. No other vehicles were involved, police said.

Video from the scene shows the car becoming unrecognizable after it caught fire.

By Saturday night, NMBPD had posted an update on social media saying that traffic between Northeast 163rd Street and 172nd Street had been reopened.

Because this is an active investigation, police say the identities of the people killed are unable to be released.
