3 Hospitalized in Little Haiti Drive-By Shooting

An angry mother calls for an end to gun violence, after her two children and her daughter's boyfriend were shot in Little Haiti.

The victim's relatives said they saw the chaotic scene unfold on Northwest 59th Street and 1st Avenue.

"I saw a guy creeping up to the stop sign, pass the stop sign. He started blasting probably like five rounds," said Betty Panameño, the victim's sibling.

Panameño's sister, Elba, also a mother, was one of the three injured and transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital.

"For this to happen on Mother's Day, you've got be very cruel and you have to have the soul of a devil," Panameño said. "We're very friendly and we get along with everybody, and for this to happen, I just don't understand why they did it."

Panameño said she tried moving her brother from the line of fire, but he was shot in the hand.

Family members said the shooter was inside a black Nissan, possibly a Maxima.
