The Miami Marlins were beaten 3-2 by the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday for their second straight loss at Wrigley Field.

Miami was held scoreless until the seventh inning, a day after it was held scoreless all game long. The Marlins posted two runs in that seventh frame, but were not able to add another run.

The Marlins still hold the second Wild-Card slot in the National League, but have not been playing their best ball as of late. The Cubs represent a potential playoff match-up for the Marlins and have outplayed the team thus far.

Jose Fernandez struggled with his command and was not confusing Chicago's hitters during his time on the mound. Fernandez gave up three runs on eight hits in his six innings of work. The right-hander walked two and struck out eight while throwing 103 pitches.

Miami managed nine hits, but they were scattered and were all singles. The Marlins have not been able to get much going against Chicago's pitchers thus far in the series. In this one, the Marlins were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.

Ichiro Suzuki appeared once again as a pinch-hitter, but was unsuccessful in moving closer to history. With his 0-1 day, Suzuki remains two shy of 3,000 hits in his career.

Tom Koehler will make the start on Wednesday for Miami as the series in Chicago comes to an end.
