Four elderly women were found with burns to their faces and necks after authorities said they participated in a ritual involving alcohol and a lighter, according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.
Firefighters responded to the Kendall home Saturday night, but there was no fire when they arrived, according to Lt. Arnold Piedrahita Jr.
Fire Rescue found the women with the burns and transported three of them via helicopter to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Burn Center, authorities said. The fourth victim was treated on scene and refused to be taken to the hospital.
