Heat On Outside Looking In After Loss

The Heat are in 9th place in the Eastern Conference and have lost 3 games in a row

The Miami Heat fell into ninth place in the Eastern Conference after their 98-85 loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Friday.

The loss was the third in a row for the Heat and they are a half game back of the eighth and final playoff spot. With the defeat, Miami fell to 21-29 on the season and is now under .500 on the road.

Miami remained without Dwyane Wade and also did not have the services of Shawne Williams and Hassan Whiteside. Williams missed the game with a hip injury while Whiteside was unable to play due to an ankle ailment. It is currently unknown if either player will miss additional time going forward.

With an injury riddled roster, the reserves were looked at for big minutes One such reserve was Udonis Haslem but he too fell victim to an injury. Haslem only accumulated four minutes on the court before exiting with a left wrist injury. The extent of the injury should be known on Saturday when the veteran is evaluated further.

Tyler Johnson saw 25 minutes of action and did the most with his opportunity. Johnson put up 18 points and was efficient a she nailed seven of his ten attempts. The Heat will need minutes from Johnson due to injuries and a lack of production from their guards overall.

Chris Bosh had 14 points to go along with seven rebounds. As has been the norm with Wade out, Bosh took the most attempts on the team. The big man wasn't at his best however as he missed 11 of his 18 tries.

Miami will take the weekend off before a home game against the New York Knicks on Monday at 7:30 p.m.
