Miramar Police Searching For Suspect Who Allegedly Shot Victim After Stealing Jewelry

Miramar Police have continued their search for a man they say shot a jogger several weeks ago after stealing her necklace.

The incident took place around 10 AM on July 17th. The victim, a woman in her 50’s, told police she was running on Monarch Lakes Blvd. when she was approached by a man who exited a black Nissan Ultima and demanded her necklace.

When she resisted, the man hit her in the face with his weapon and shot her three times before fleeing. She was later released from the hospital after being hit in the stomach, thigh and knee.

Police describe the shooter as a black male in his early 20’s, around 5’10” tall and having a short afro haircut and facial hair. He was last seen wearing a green shirt and jeans.

Miramar Police say the victim did everything right, but it can be difficult to defend against random attacks and advised to always be on the lookout.

“Be aware of your surroundings,” said Detective Natasha Richardson. “If you can, go with 2 people or multiple people and if you’re going to talk to somebody, just be careful"
