S. Florida Kitesurfer Recovering After Shark Bite

A kitesurfer is recovering after being bitten by a shark in the waters off South Florida.

Kurt Hoffman of Delray Beach says the attack was so fast Saturday that he wasn't sure what had happened until he saw more than a dozen jagged puncture wounds on his left arm. He pulled himself back onto his board and yelled to his friends about a shark. His wounds were treated at a hospital.

Palm Beach County lifeguards tell The Palm Beach Post  that they spotted sharks all weekend, but mostly in waters far away from swimmers.

Some shark species are at the tail end of their winter migration to Florida's warm waters.

Hoffman's eager to return to the water. He says he regularly sees more sharks while kitesurfing than beachgoers realize.
