Two Injured in Tanker Explosion

Crews moving gas tanks at a gas station ignited a blaze

If you were driving anywhere near the Palmetto today, you were well-aware something somewhere was burning.

Just after 8 a.m., this morning two workers were cleaning out and refurbishing a service station at the 9100 Block of West Okeechobee Road when the fiberglass tank caught fire.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units responded to the scene and put out the fire. The two employees cleaning the service station were seriously injured. Fire rescue air lifted the workers to Jackson Memorial's Ryder Trauma Center.

According to public records, the company where the service station caught fire is USA Truck Service Plaza.
