Truck Slams Into Oakland Park Home, Driver Facing DUI Charge

A surveillance camera captured the moment a pickup truck came barreling into the front of an Oakland Park home, leading to the arrest of the driver on a DUI charge.

The incident happened Sunday night at a home in the 300 block of Northwest 38th Street.

Homeowner Robert Newell said no one was home at the time but he was at the neighbor's house and got an alert on his phone from the Ring app. The Ring camera captured the truck crashing into the car port.

The driver, identified by authorities as 40-year-old Rosa Abelino Zacariasreyes, is facing a DUI charge. A Broward Sheriff's Office report said Zacariasreyes was taken to the hospital "due to extreme intoxication," and while there a deputy could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from him and saw that his eyes were bloodshot and watery, his face was flushed, and his speech was slurred.

Zacariasreyes told the deputy he was on his way home from a nightclub and said he had consumed three beers outside of the bar, the report said. Zacariasreyes was being booked into jail Monday, and attorney information wasn't available.

The report said Zacariasreyes has two prior convictions for DUI, in 2010 and 2014.
