A pair of carjackers allegedly stole a car, committed a robbery, and then ran into an unmarked police car about an hour later, injuring a Miami-Dade Police Officer.
Police said the carjacking happened around 7 p.m. Tuesday evening. The two men carjacked a Cadillac SUV and took off from the initial scene. Police issued a “be on the lookout” for the SUV and the alleged carjackers.
Police said about an hour later, two men matching the description of the carjackers committed a robbery. Miami-Dade Police said the robbery intervention detail was in the area when the carjacked Cadillac ran a red light at North Miami Avenue and T-boned the unmarked police car.
One officer was treated for minor injuries at the scene. Police then set up a large perimeter in the area searching for the men late Tuesday night.
