A 9-year-old child drowned in a backyard swimming pool in Southwest Ranches Sunday, police said.
The child, whose name wasn't released, was found in the pool at the home in the 20200 block of Southwest 50th Place, Davie Police spokesman Capt. Dale Engle said.
The child was transported to Memorial West Hospital unconscious and not breathing, and was pronounced dead at the hospital, Engle said.
Police are still investigating the incident.
