Firefighters Rally to Help Pregnant Woman Saved From Fire

The 30-year-old is due to give birth in just three weeks and Lauderhill firefighters are trying to quickly get her back on her feet

A pregnant woman was hospitalized for smoke inhalation after a fire at a Lauderhill apartment building Monday.

A pregnant woman who escaped flames that tore through her home is getting some extra help from the heroes who rushed to save her.

Lauderhill firefighters are asking for donations to help the woman and her unborn child after the mom-to-be lost everything in Monday's fire. She's been staying at a motel in Plantation that was provided by the Red Cross, but as of Thursday, the assistance will end and the soon-to-be mother and her family will have nowhere to go.

The 30-year-old is due to give birth in just three weeks and Lauderhill firefighters are trying to quickly get her back on her feet. They set up a Go Fund Me account with a $10,000 goal. In just three hours, the Go Fund Me page raised $1,300.

The woman's friends through her a baby shower days before the fire, but all of the gifts she received were destroyed by flames.

She lived in the apartment with her father, cousin and 2-year-old niece, but the family did not have renter's insurance. The woman had a previous full-term pregnancy in which the child died hours after birth.
