Group to Remember Tequesta Teens Lost at Sea 2 Years Ago

A community remembers two teens lost at sea.

Monday marks two years since two Tequesta teens went missing off the Jupiter Inlet. Communities across the South Florida coast are remembering the young boaters.

Austin Stephanos and Perry Cohen, both 14, disappeared during a fishing trip.

In June, state officials released a report that concluded that the friends' boat capsized during an afternoon storm.

The group "Light the Coast for Austin and Perry" planned to release about 100 lanterns from the very spot the teens launched the doomed trip. Memorials hosted by the group will be held in Jupiter, Pompano Beach and Miami.

The release of the lanterns will simultaneously launch at 8:30 p.m. The local ceremonies will be held at Hobie Island Beach Park, Pompano Beach Pier and Dania Beach Pier.
