Man Returns From Hospital Still Wearing Robe After Being Shot

The victim of a shooting in Southwest Miami-Dade returned back to the scene the same day– in his hospital gown.

Police are on the hunt for gunman who shot a man as he was opening up his business in southwest Miami-Dade County early Monday morning.

Shots were fired during the robbery at SAO Towing Service located at 2950 Southwest 71st Avenue, around 5:30 a.m.

Miami-Dade Police said the 55-year-old victim, identified by family members as Silvio Alvarez, opened the gate to the business when he was confronted by an armed suspect.

According to Alvarez's son, his father was opening the business when someone came behind him and stuck a gun in his back. Investigators say the armed robber pointed the gun at the man and demanded money and a gold chain.

A struggle ensued and Alvarez was shot and struck in the arm and back. He then complied and the robber fled with an undisclosed amount of money and a gold chain.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the scene and transported the victim to Kendall Regional Hospital in stable condition.

His condition is not known at this time.
