‘Miracle' Dog Rescued From Bahamas After Hurricane Dorian Adopted in South Florida

What to Know

  • The dog spent over three weeks trapped under an air conditioning unity in Marsh Harbor, Bahamas.

Months after he was rescued following the massive destruction from Hurricane Dorian, a dog who miraculously survived and was brought to South Florida has been adopted to his new forever home.

“Miracle”, who spent weeks rehabbing at a facility in Palm Beach County, was adopted by a family with three small children during an event Tuesday according to NBC affiliate WPTV-TV.

The dog spent over three weeks trapped under an air conditioning unit in Marsh Harbor, Bahamas before an infrared drone was able to locate him and he was flown to the Loxahatchee Groves facility of the Big Dog Ranch Rescue.

Since arriving at the facility and having to go through extensive treatments – including learning how to walk again as well as recovering from damages suffered in the storm – Miracle has gained twice his body weight.

Officials believe that, due to the mass devastation in the area where the dog was located, he may be the only survivor from the family – while adding that more than 10,000 adoption requests have come in from around the world since Miracle’s arrival.
