A pilot suffered serious injuries in an experimental plane crash at a Tampa airport Monday morning.
The crash happened around 10:30 a.m. in a wooded area near the Brooksville-Tampa Bay Regional Airport, Hernando County Fire Rescue officials said.
Rescue workers responded and found the 63-year-old pilot standing near the burning wreckage. He was flown to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, officials said.
The fire to the plane and wooded area was extinguished. The FAA is investigating the cause of the crash.
