Woman Drives Car Into Water in Margate

A woman lost control of her vehicle and ended up in the water in Margate Monday morning.

Police say a call came in at 11:23 a.m. that a car was in the water near 100 W. Copans Road with a woman trapped inside.

Officer Larry Christopher of Coconut Creek Police responded to the call and so did a Margate officer. A retired Broward County Sheriff officer also happened to be in the area.

The officers dove in, knocked out the glass and together, pulled the frantic woman, Carolann Brown, to safety just before the car sunk.

She was transported, alert and conscious, to nearby Northwest Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries. Officer Christopher was also treated for cuts from the glass in the car.
