Woman Formally Charged in King Carter Murder Case

Prosecutors have filed formal tampering charges against Tameka Thompson, the mother of Leonard Adams, one of three teens charged with the murder of King Carter, 6, in Miami-Dade.

Detectives said Adams, Irwen Pressley and Tamar Teems got into a shootout sparked by a social media feud. Carter was outside the apartment complex where he lived and was caught in the crossfire.

Police said Thompson tried to get rid of the car, which was full of bullet holes, by paying an acquaintance $50. The black Lexus was later found at a junkyard.

Thompson has been charged with one count of tampering with physical evidence and witness tampering in a capital felony. It's unknown whether she has an attorney.

The senseless death angered the community and many held vigils and marched in Carter's memory.
