Gunman Involved in Boynton Beach Home Depot Shooting Shot After Chase

Suspect hospitalized after fatal shooting at Home Depot parking lot

A gunman suspected of shooting a man at a Boynton Beach Home Depot parking lot was shot after a confrontation with police Wednesday following a high-speed chase on I-95, authorities said.

The incident began around 10 a.m. when the suspect shot and killed a man sitting in a car at the Home Depot at 1500 Southwest 8th Street, according to Boynton Beach Police spokeswoman Stephanie Slater.

Slater said the shooter took off in a white van and headed northbound on I-95. He exited at Lantana Road driving at high speeds, striking two vehicles along the way.

Officers caught up with the suspect on Federal Highway and managed to pull him over. As officers approached the car, they spotted a gun inside and opened fire.

It was unclear whether the suspect was hit by the officers' bullets or a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Slater said. The suspect was taken to Delray Medical Center, where his condition is unknown.

The identities of the victim and the suspect haven't been released. Police are still investigating and trying to determine a motive for the shooting
