A South Florida burglary suspect was nabbed after he took time out during a police pursuit to grab a couple beers, authorities said.

Andrew Robert Fatzinger, 21, was arrested on charges of burglary, grand theft, criminal mischief and resisting an officer following the incident early Sunday, according to a Lighthouse Point Police report.

Police say a neighbor called police around 2 a.m. to report a man had climbed to the second story of a nearby townhome and went inside. When officers arrived, they saw the man, later identified as Fatzinger, go in and out of the residence, the report said.

At one point, an officer and Fatzinger made eye contact, and Fatzinger took off running through the neighborhood, jumping over fences as police established a perimeter and began a search, the report said.

As police chased Fatzinger, he entered another home's patio area, where he opened a fridge and grabbed a couple bottles of Heineken, which he later tossed behind a residence, the report said.

Fatzinger ran through several yards before he was finally apprehended by a police K-9, which he punched several times to get the dog to release him, the report said.

When police returned to the home where Fatzinger had first been spotted, they found he had destroyed the inside, breaking all the televisions and spraying mustard and writing all over the walls of the home, causing thousands of dollars in damages, the report said.

He had also been loading laptops, electronics and medications into a suitcase, the report said.

Fatzinger, of Port St. Lucie, was booked into jail and remains behind bars. It was unknown whether he has an attorney.
