Inmate Caught With Drugs in Derriere

Florida jailbird stuffed pot, pills and tobacco up rectum: officials

A Southwest Florida man with an affection for pot, pills and tobacco wasn't quite ready to drop his bad habits when he was arrested Wednesday.

So he hid those items, in the one place he knew he could hide something: his rectum.

Salvatore James Zambuto, 22, was arrested early Wednesday on two outstanding warrants. He was nabbed when an officer pulled over a car and found pills in syringes in the vehicle and Zambuto slouched down in the passenger seat.

By the time Zambuto was booked into a Charlotte County jail later in the day, a corrections officer noticed him walking awkwardly after Zambuto asked him if he could use the bathroom.

When officers followed him into the bathroom, they found him on the floor with latex glove bags filled with the contraband.

Zambuto was hit with smuggling contraband charges in addition to drug possession charges, and was being held without bond Thursday.
