2 Injured When Plane Collides With Helicopter at Clearwater Airpark

Two people suffered minor injuries when a plane making an emergency landing collided with a helicopter at a Florida airpark.

According to WFLA, the helicopter, a Robinson R22, was hovering as the Piper PA-28 aircraft was landing on Runway 34 at Clearwater Airpark. Federal Aviation Administration officials say a collision occurred and the plane carrying two passengers flipped over.

Authorities say only the pilot was in the helicopter when the plane struck. Two people suffered minor injuries, but their names and current conditions have not been released.

The Clearwater Fire Department is cleaning up the resulting fuel leak.
