A collector in North Port says someone stole tens of thousands of fossilized sand dollars.
A woman called police when she noticed approximately 40,000 of the sea creatures were missing. North Port Police say the sand dollars had been collected over many years from around the shores of Florida.
The sea-cakes have an estimated value of $1 each. The fossilized creatures are sold online and highly sought after by collectors.
