Family of Missing Spring Breaker Seeks Federal Help

The family of a Rice University student who went missing while on spring break in Panama City Beach is asking for the help of the U.S. Attorney General's office.

Twenty-one-year-old Reny Jose was reported missing March 3. He was last seen by friends he was staying with in Panama City Beach. They told investigators he had taken LSD and talked of suicide before he disappeared.

The News-Herald of Panama City reports Jose's parents are asking for the community's support in a petition asking U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder for federal involvement in the case. The petition had 3,000 of the required 30,000 signatures on Thursday.

Search crews found his clothes, wallet and cell phone in a trash can near the rental home.
