Father Wanted in Missing Child Case

Samuel Montes may be trying to leave the country with his toddler daughter

A Miami-Dade father who is currently being investigated by the state child welfare agency for abuse has gone missing with his 2-year-old daughter, police said Wednesday.

Samuel Montes, 21, was last seen Feb. 28 with his daughter Angelina, but has since concealed the little girl's whereabouts from the mother.

Police believe Montes, who is the non-custodial parent, is trying to flee the country with the girl, although police would not comment on why the man would be on the run.

Montes is the subject of a Department of Children and Families investigation into alleged abuse, but the details have not been released.

Police did not say if the girl was in any immediate danger form her father.

Montes is described as a 5'9, 200-pound white Hispanic male.
