Heat Suffer Lopsided Loss to Pistons

The Heat were unable to compete with the Pistons in Wednesday's 107-84 loss

The Miami Heat struggled in their 107-84 loss to the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

Miami is now a paltry 2-5 on the road and 4-10 overall this season. The Heat have lost two games in a row on the current road trip and still have one more to go. The lopsided loss to Detroit may sting a little extra for Miami as the Pistons are not considered a contender at this stage.

Things started badly for the Heat and the team never recovered. Detroit won the first quarter by ten and had a 12-point advantage at the half. The Pistons would only build the lead further in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.

Miami's starting lineup had zero standouts in the loss with Dion Waiters leading the pack. Waiters had 11 points which was a high for the starting five, but not for the team. Tyler Johnson led the team overall with his 17 points off the bench.

Hassan Whiteside failed to record a double-double for only the second time this season. This was also the first time this year that Whiteside did not reach double digits with rebounds. The center had six points and eight boards in the loss.

The Heat will next take on the Memphis Grizzlies in back-to-back games. Miami will first travel to Memphis on Friday at 8:00 p.m.
