Hurricanes Unveil Military Appreciation Day Uniforms

The Hurricanes unveiled a new military inspired uniform that they will wear on November 7th

The Miami Hurricanes will wear special uniforms on "Military Appreciation Day" this coming Saturday against Virginia.

The new look which was created by Adidas will combine the colors of the school with those of the military. In addition to a camouflage TechFit baselayer, players will wear khaki socks and special gloves. The gloves, socks and baselayer will all involve the colors of U.S. Army Delta Force.

The baselayer that Miami will wear will feature a large "U" in metallic silver. This will be on top of the aforementioned camo design. Besides the special socks, the players will also wear cleats inspired by Delta Force. The footwear will be reminiscent of the type worn by active military personnel. There will be embroidered stripes on the clears as a tribute to those found on elite forces uniforms as well.

The entire uniform will be accented in black with a large silver "U" on each shoulder that resembles the one found on the front of the baselayer. Rounding off the jersey design will be the word "Canes" in silver and outlined by orange.

UM will also provide 1,000 free tickets to veterans and active military for the special day. In addition to this gesture, the school will donate game worn jerseys and helmets to charity.

The Hurricanes are coming off one of the most exciting finishes in college football history. The Hurricanes walked off with a 30-27 over Duke following a controversial return play to end the game. The play has since resulted in suspensions for the officiating crew involved.

Miami is 5-3 on the year and 1-0 under interim head coach Larry Scott. Following Saturday's game against Virginia, the Hurricanes will travel to North Carolina.
