Loud Music Dispute Leads to Police Standoff in Miami Beach

Man taken into custody after threatening neighbor with weapon over loud music: Miami Beach Police

A man was taken into custody after he barricaded himself inside his Miami Beach apartment Wednesday morning and refused to leave, police said.

The incident started at the building in the 800 block of 16th Street when the suspect and a neighbor got into a dispute over loud music around 6 a.m., Miami Beach Police said.

2 People Barricaded in South Beach: Police

Police said the suspect threatened his neighbor with what appeared to be either a rifle or a shotgun. The neighbor ran into his apartment and called police.

Officers arrived and and were able to get four people who were inside the suspect's apartment out safely, but the suspect refused to leave, police said.

A SWAT team was called in to end the standoff and the suspect eventually was taken into custody after the SWAT team entered the apartment, police said.

The suspect hasn't been identified and police haven't said what charges he'll face.
