Man Exposed Himself to Sunbather: Coral Gables Police

Coral Gables Police handed out flyers Monday as they continued to search for a man who exposed himself to a sunbather.

The incident happened the morning of Oct. 3 at a home in the 200 block of Mendoza Avenue, Coral Gables Police spokeswoman Kelly Denham said. According to Denham, the suspect walked to the rear of the home where he found a woman sunbathing around 10:50 a.m. He exposed himself and fled the scene on foot.

“Well, it’s scary,” said resident Maria Rougeau. “It’s scary to know that, especially it seems, like it’s in the daytime sort of thing. Especially, when you have children, it’s scary to see that something can be so close to home.”

Surveillance cameras in the area captured clear images of the man just before 11 a.m. as he entered and left the property. Police said a woman in the area was also sexually assaulted when a man entered her home wearing a ski mask making some wonder if it was the same person.

“Our detectives are already engaged in that possibility to see if in fact this is the same individual,” Denham said.

“It makes me really nervous, but not only about myself, but about my kids,” said Beba Sanchez. “They are always running around because I was thinking this is a good area and I wasn’t expecting this kind of thing.”

The suspect is described as a white man in his mid to late 20s, with dark hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information is asked to call Coral Gables Police at 305-442-1600 or Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
