Men Arrested With Undersized Lobster Out of Season in Florida Keys

Two Miami men were arrested Saturday for having a large amount of speared and undersized lobster out of season, according to Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

A MCSO deputy a was on patrol when he spotted Jesus Molinet-Salinas, 28, and Julio Turino Borroto, 29, just offshore of the 60 mile marker.

The observed the Molinet-Salinas and Borroto in the water diving with no dive flag, holding spear guns, swimming back and forth to shore several times and place something in the rocks on the shore.

The deputy confronted the men, asking if they had caught anything. They said they hadn't, but when the deputy went to the area on shore where he’d seen the men swim to and he found a red bag filled with 44 speared spiny lobster.

Molinet-Salinas and Borroto subsequently arrested. Both men were charged with possession of undersized lobster, possession of lobster over the limit, possession of speared lobster, possession of lobster out of season and having no measuring device while harvesting lobster.
