Miami-Dade added 58,331 people to its population between April 2010 and July 2011, making it the fourth-fastest-growing county in the country, according to new U.S. Census Bureau figures.
The region as a whole is also growing fast. The Miami-Fort Lauderdale metro area added 105,490 people to its population in the same time span, placing it sixth behind Dallas-Fort Worth (154,774), Houston (139,699), Washington, D.C. (121,911), New York (118,791) and Los Angeles (115,964), the Census Bureau says.
Miami-Dade County’s population stands at 2.55 million, according to Census Bureau estimates, while that of the broader Miami-Fort Lauderdale metro area is 5.67 million.
