NBC 6's Christina Hernandez has the details on a Miami Springs standoff that ended peacefully Tuesday afternoon (Published Tuesday, May 13, 2014)

A MIami Springs man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after a police standoff that lasted most of the day.

A source close to Miami Springs Police told NBC 6's Christina Hernandez the man arrested was 23-year-old Billy Deno.

The situation started when Deno's uncle stopped by the home on Quail Avenue and then Deno allegedly pulled a gun on him.

The entire situation took place just feet away from Miami Springs High School. The school was put on lockdown and for a while, parents and teachers were left wondering what was happening.

The home is owned by Elizabeth Deno. The home was surrounded for four hours as cops tried to get Deno to surrender. Just before 3 p.m., Deno surrendered to police.

The lockdown for Miami Springs High School was promptly lifted.
