Police say Pines woman's disappearance now a homicide investigation
The case of Natalie Belmonte, the missing Pembroke Pines woman, is now a homicide investigation, police say.
Police say they're shifting their investigation of a Pembroke Pines woman's disappearance from a missing person search to a possible homicide.
Authorities Wednesday were still searching for clues in the disappearance of Natalie Belmonte, 43, who was last seen Sunday around 2:30 a.m. after returning to her home in the 19300 block of Northwest 5th Street after attending a social gathering, police said.
Pembroke Pines Police, joined by Miramar Police, the Broward Sheriff's Office and members of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spent most of Monday and Tuesday searching for Belmonte, focusing their search on an area on Pines Boulevard west of I-75.
Police confiscated the contents of a dumpster behind a Publix in the area of Sheridan Street and 194th Street Monday, but refused to describe the contents, only saying that they point to foul play.
Late Tuesday, police said they were also trying to locate a red or maroon Lexus ES that was seen in the area of Belmonte's home early Sunday.
Pembroke Pines Police Captain Dan Rakofsky said detectives were still interviewing relatives and friends of Belmonte, and are asking for the public's help.
