Some flights at South Florida's airports were delayed or cancelled because of the storm system affecting the Northeast on Monday.

At Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport there were 83 delays and 39 cancellations to New York City, Philadelphia and Newark.

Forecasters warned that a series of storms will pound the Midwest, Northeast and even the South this week, according to NBC News. Despite the surprisingly mild weather for Super Bowl weekend, snow was expected to hit the Northeast at dawn on Monday, according to The Weather Channel. Starting Tuesday, ice could also accumulate and threaten power outages in western Pennsylvania, western Maryland, northwest Virginia, and eastern West Virginia.

At Miami International Airport, there were 22 cancelled flights, and 10 was delayed.
