Thieves Robbed Cooper City Bank Customers: BSO

Authorities are looking for a thief and his accomplice after they stole cash from customers of a Cooper City bank.

The theft happened back on Oct. 13 after the customers made a withdrawal at the Bank of America at 11645 Hibbs Grove Drive, Broward Sheriff's Office officials said.

Officials said one of the thieves paid close attention to customers' transactions while pretending to fill out slips or wait in line. At one point he stood behind the two customers as they withdrew several thousand dollars.

The thief then texted his accomplice, and several minutes later, the two thieves followed their victims to their next location, officials said. They waited for the victims to leave their car then went in after the money.

The victims returned to the car during the burglary and tried to catch the thieves but were unsuccessful, officials said.

Authorities call the act "bank jugging," where suspects case banks for customers making withdrawals then follow them and burglarize their vehicle when they park elsewhere.

The BSO is looking for the thieves, who they say were in a newer model black Ford Explorer. Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
