Massachusetts State Police said 65 vehicles, including two trailer trucks and two six- wheel commercial motor vehicles, were involved in a crash on Route 290, near Exit 14 in Worcester, Mass., New England Cable News reported. Thirty- five passengers were taken to local hospitals. The accident scene was about 1,500 feet long and "separated" by two trailer trucks that were completely across the roadway, according to the police statement. The pile up occurred due to icy conditions on roads, police said. “As soon as we hit the bridge, I mean, we came over the top and it was a sheet of ice," one driver told NECN. "We saw cars every which way and tried to slow down and realized it was just total ice. I chose to go into the divider to slow down and, you know, there was nothing I could do."
