Dolphins Struggle Again in Loss to Chiefs

For a second straight week, the Dolphins were not able to get much going and lost 34-15

The Miami Dolphins lost by a final score of 34-15 to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday in what was their first defeat at home this season.

The win was the first for the Chiefs who had struggled out of the gate this year. Miami has now lost two straight games and its positive win in the opener is a distant memory. Since coming from behind to beat the New England Patriots, the Dolphins have been outscored 63-25 in two contests.

In this game, Ryan Tannehill found himself on his back via sack four more times, matching his total from a week ago. After leading the NFL in sacks last season, this trend does not bode well for Miami. The sacks led to losses of 14 yards and were part of a dismal 21-43 day for Tannehill. The quarterback had a 70.4 rating in the game and threw one touchdown pass. Brian Hartline caught that one and it was his first receiving TD of the season.

One of the few bright spots for Miami was Lamar Miller. Filling in for the injured Knowshon Moreno, Miller rushed for 108 yards on 15 carries. Miller is going to continue to carry the bulk of the load for the running game with Moreno expected to miss several more weeks.

Newly re-signed Daniel Thomas got into the action as well briefly with one carry for five yards. Thomas who was cut prior to the opener is not likely to see much more than a few snaps here and there.

Miami's defense recovered a pair of fumbles and also sacked KC quarterback Alex Smith five times. Jelani Jenkins led the way with 15 tackles, 11 of the solo variety and 1.5 sacks. Jenkins was also credited with two QB hits.

The Dolphins will head to London for a game with the Oakland Raiders next Sunday. The 1.00 p.m. game will take place at Wembley Stadium. It is being considered a home game for Oakland.
